Mission Briefing: Death Wish (Seek and Destroy SAMs)

Singye bridge is been used by North Korean forces as a supply
route for fuel, ammo, condoms and other war items. Military Intelligence
personnel have concluded that it's to the utmost importance to
destroy this supply path to the West. However, satellite
images taken earlier today, indicate that there are 4 SAM sites
guarding the bridge from hostile aggression. You are task to seek
and destroy this SAMs by following your assigned waypoints.
A flight of two B-52s bombers will destroy the bridge.

Finally, your death wish have been granted!

Mission Notes:

The Singye bridge is a very critical asset to North Korea. It provides
a path for supplies, condoms and armored vehicles to the west.
For these reasons the Korean Government have set up a protective fence
of fighter planes, AAA and SAM sites to protect the Singye bridge.

The following is the latest intel info available at hand.
Enemy fighter planes have been spotted flying West from Kaesong Airbase.
Another flock of airplanes are flying North from MaengSan Airbase
and from the East, another group of enemy fighters are refueling at
HyonNi Airbase. Hind helicopters are on patrol on the South from
Keasong Airbase and SAM batteries are also in place on all four sides
of the bridge. Also, an enemy tank column is moving South from Keasong
Airbase to support the Hinds to prevent any ground attack. As you can
see, this is not going to be an easy task. A coordinated simultaneous
attack is necessary to penetrate this protective fence of certain death!

Our Military Intelligence (MI) personnel have designed a complete strike
package to take care of any airborne aggressor near the bridge. This will
provide you with some cover against most enemy airplanes. However, the North
side of Korea is unreachable by our forces due to the high number of SAMs
located in the North.

You'll have to deal personnally with the MIGS located North of the
Singye bridge. Remember there are many SAMs crews in the area.
Destroy only those SAMs located in front of your flight path.
Engage enemy fighters ONLY if fired upon!!! Your primary mission is to
destroy 4 SAM batteries near the Singye bridge. If you fail to kill
all SAMs, you'll jeopardize the lives of the two B-52 crewmen
flying from Chuncheon Airbase to destroy the bridge.

Your mission support flights will consist of the following.
A group of three F-18s (Flight Group Alpha) will intercept any enemy plane
just West of the Singye bridge. "Alpha" will depart from carrier
Enterprise on the West coast. Another group of three F-18
(Flight Group Bravo) will depart from Chuncheon Airbase to intercept
any enemy plane East of the Singye bridge. In addition, a group of four
Apache helicopters (Flight Group Charlie) will come from Chuncheon Airbase
to take care of the Hind helicopters patrolling the South side of the bridge.
The North side of the bridge will be on you and your wingman, as
well as taking care of ALL 4 SAM batteries located at the Singye Bridge.

In addition, the 101st US Army Airborne Division out of Dongducheon Airbase,
will conduct a raid in conjunction with the US Army's Special Forces
team to destroy the enemy tank column located South of the bridge. The
ground attack group code name is "Mike". Mike will be supported by the
Army's 10th Mountain Division as well as the 11th Signal Brigade for
COMMS and logistics support.

This is our first step towards the invasion of North Korea. Once the
ground troops have secured the South, the 10th Mountain Division will
continue to push forward, towards the Singye bridge to secure it from
falling into enemy hands. Securing this bridge will split most of North
Korea in half and the eventual surrender of the Korean Government will
be at hand.

It's very important that you follow your assigned waypoints (WPs).
Do not deviate from your flight path and take out SAMs as they appear
in your flight path. Maintain a good SA (Situational Awareness)
and keep in mind the distance in between your WPs and Assigned Targets.
This will help you to determine which SAMs have been targeted for
destruction and which SAMs are not part of your mission.

Departure time is 0500 hrs, the weather is obscured by heavy clouds and
visibility is no more than 8 nautical miles. A great understanding of
instrument navigation is A Plus! You've been chosen by your superiors
and peers as the best, of the best, of the best... make us proud!

Go get'em tiger!
